Overview
Meetings and business discussions are a vital part of any organisations decision-making process and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external partners is becoming increasingly important across all sectors.
Effective communication includes; the ability to write and speak clearly, concisely and where necessary persuasively for the target audience; the ability to understand the issues surrounding the facilitation of meetings, conferences and workshops and utilise the skills and qualities needed to act as effective facilitators; the ability to speak and present to varied groups with confidence and professionalism.
Course Aims
Facilitation Skills training is vitally important in enabling you to improve your understanding of the issues surrounding the facilitation of meetings, conferences and workshops and improve and enhance your skills and qualities that are needed to enable you to act as an effective facilitator.
Who should attend this course?
Anyone who has not had experience of Facilitation but needs the skills; anyone who currently facilitates but has had no formal training in Facilitation Skills; or anyone who has attended Facilitation Skills training but requires a refresher.
Objectives
The objectives of the workshops are: -
- To explore the definitions of ‘Facilitation’ and identify the roles, responsibilities, skills and qualities of an effective facilitator.
- To explore the purpose , process and benefits of facilitation
- To explore the dynamics of facilitation, including assertiveness, listening and questioning, motivating and sustaining the group, techniques to stimulate discussion and being able to confidently handle dominant participants in group situations.
- To provide the opportunity to practice skills and techniques

Delegates are required to complete a pre-course questionnaire prior to the course.
