Overview
The pressures of modern lifestyles mean that stress is an unfortunate reality for many people. The negative effects of stress on work performance, relationships with colleagues and with friends and family are well documented. This is a one day highly interactive course designed for anyone who wants to deal more effectively with the effects and causes of excessive pressure for themselves and those around them.
Course aims
To provide delegates with a good understanding of the causes of stress and how it can affect the body and mind. To help them develop practical ways of dealing with the effects so they feel more able to cope in the future, and therefore less likely to suffer from stress related problems.

Anyone who wished to improve their personal effectiveness at work by learning the top stress management techniques and learning how to handle difficult situations.
What you will gain
The interactive nature of the course gives delegates the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the effects of stress on themselves and others. They will be able to use their knowledge to develop strategies to improve their ability to manage their own pressures effectively.
Course objectives
By the end of the course delegates will:
- Understand the relationship between pressure and stress, and the essentially personal nature of individual reactions to pressure.
- Appreciate the significance of the body's innate defence mechanism, the fight or flight reaction, when dealing with perceived threat.
- Undertake personal audits of their predisposition to stress and current stress levels.
- Understand the principle approaches to dealing with excessive pressure.
- Have considered their workplace and what effects this has on their own, and colleagues, levels of stress.
- Have produced an individual action plan making commitments to changes that will help them deal with their own stress, and, where appropriate, that of those they manage.
