Overview
In dealing with people on a one-to-one basis, your effectiveness depends on your ability to achieve the results you want through negotiation. You have the power to influence people’s perceptions of you, and of any given situation. This course addresses the skills necessary to achieve the most mutually beneficial outcome whilst maintaining good relations with people at all levels.
Course aims
To develop and practice the skills necessary to conduct negotiations and influence perceptions and decisions between individuals, groups and organisations professionally and with confidence.

What you will gain
Gain the confidence to apply techniques learnt on the course in negotiation and influencing. Learn to stand back from your situation and assess the best course of action. Identify customers within and beyond the Department among whom influencing is beneficial and appropriate. Learn to distinguish between negotiation and influencing and when each should be used.

By the end of the course, you will be able to: -
- Identify individuals and groups amongst whom influencing is beneficial and appropriate.
- Distinguish between influencing and negotiation and know when it is appropriate to use either.
- Identify perceptions and circumstances likely to lead to outcomes concurrent with their objectives.
- Pursue mutually beneficial negotiations whilst preserving working relationships.
- Approach negotiations and apply influence in a confident and persuasive manner.
